IAI is a private and independent non-profit foreign policy think tank based in Rome. It was founded in 1965. With a particular focus on international focus to contribute to the advancement of European integration and multilateral cooperation, IAI cooperates with both national and European politicians, institutions, economic actors, media, universities and think tanks.

Key Researcher

 

Nicola Casarini is Senior Fellow at the Institute of International Affairs (IAI) in Rome; and non-resident Global Fellow at the Wilson Center in Washington DC. Prior to this he was Visiting Professor at the Graduate Institute in Geneva; Senior Analyst at the EU Institute for Security Studies in Paris; Marie Curie Research Fellow and Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence. He holds a PhD in international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science. His research interests focus on the interplay between foreign policy, security studies and regional integration. He has published widely on: EU-China and EU-Asia relations. In the EAST project, Nicola contributes to a chapter on non-proliferation.
